Alexithymia, 2024

Plaster, paint, wood. Approximately 5’ x 5’. Installation view.

Alexithymia means the inability to recognize or describe one's own emotions. Although not in the DSM-5, it is linked to depression, and suicidal thinking and is often seen in individuals with those on the autism spectrum. I cannot accurately verbalize my emotions and often will not do so.  My only way is to express those emotions and thinking is through art making, both positive and negative.
